Parliament of Children and Youth
| Klaudia Kozioł |Have you ever heard about being a young politician for one day? No? It ist high time you did!
Parliament of Children and Youth is an annual event, the aim of which is to find a group of the children and youth that feel the urge to become a kind of an envoy just for a short time. The aim of the event is to show young people how true politics works. Feeling like members of the parliament gives them an occasion to spread democratic ideas during a discussion and make society more conscious when it comes to the complicated world of law or economy.
A discussion is always finished with a project of a law act that is taken into consideration by the real parliament. The topics of the last year’s discussions concerned current problems of our society. According to the latest facts, these groups were obliged to prepare constructive and attractive, from the point of view of young people, solutions. Not only were they taught the theory about democracy and parliament, but also they were given a chance to develop a feeling of having their opinions appreciated by the others. The final effect of the discussion is a plenary session. In the Parliament Hall the parliament votes and discusses a project. The approved resolution is not a normative document, but can become a tip for the government that they should work on. If project is accepted by the majority , then the law is changed.
The topic of the problem I needed to face was “Public Space For the Young”. I came back with a backpack of new experiences and full of energy to participate in young initiatives, which means that the project targets are realized.
The amount of advantages of such a project is incredibly high. Young people can extend their mind horizons, breaking some mind barriers and feel the power to have an influence on law, not to mention meeting really influential people.
